DC-based art adviser Lauren Hilyard will give a 30-minute talk, followed by a brief Q&A, on art auctions of all kinds--from the WPA Auction Gala, with its new online sales component, to the auctions of the big, international firms.
About the Presenter
Hilyard Art Advisory, LLC works with private collectors, corporations, interior designers and architects to build and manage art collections.
Founder and Principal, Lauren Hilyard, has a broad understanding of the art market from her years of experience working in museums, galleries, auction houses and as a collection manager for a private collector.
Hilyard began her career at John Berggruen Gallery in San Francisco, followed by several years at Christie’s in New York. She then worked as a collection manager and private curator in Manhattan for a private collector looking after ten thousand catalogued objects.
In 2010 Hilyard moved with her family to her hometown of Washington, DC where she worked for a frame historian and for a Georgetown based Art Consulting Firm before founding Hilyard Art Advisory in 2013.
Hilyard received her bachelor’s degree in art history with a minor in studio art from Connecticut College. During her college career Hilyard worked for Estee Lauder Inc.’s curator, and at the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice. Lauren serves on the board of the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and is a member of ArtTable, The Leadership Organization for Professional Women in the Visual Arts.
