Join Zoë Charlton and Tim Doud as they talk with Chicago-based performance duo: Dutes Miller & Stan Shellabarger. Refreshments will be served.

Miller & Shellabarger create artist books and public performances that examine queer identity, politics, and displays of affection and intimacy. A husband and husband artist, team Dutes Miller & Stan Shellabarger’s art documents the bittersweet rhythms of human relationships. Their work shifts between moments of togetherness and moments of separation, between spaces of private and public, protection and pain and visibility and invisibility. They are recipients of a 2008 Artadia Chicago Award and a 2007 Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation award. Together, Miller & Shellabarger have presented their projects at venues across the United States and at art fairs including Volta in Basel; Switzerland; NEXT in Chicago; NADA in Miami; and the Affair at the Jupiter in Portland, Oregon. The two artists also maintain separate artistic practices. Miller & Shellabarger are represented by Western Exhibitions in Chicago, where they live and work. They will be performing at ‘sindikit during the close of their exhibition on December 10, at 6:30 p.m.

‘sindikit is a project space created by DC-based artists Zoë Charlton and Tim Doud to support experimental work, to promote practice-based research, and to foster art-centered conversations.
