WPA opened as one of the District's earliest alternative spaces in 1975. In addition to providing artists a place to experiment, to meet artists from outside the city, WPA was also a place of belonging. Today, as the DC artist community becomes increasingly fractured, we believe it is more important than ever for WPA to support and nourish artist-driven communities. That is why our programming over the next few years will become increasingly artist-driven. Artists need places where they can create the art scene they want to live in. We will also commission increasingly ambitious artworks and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and experimentation.
WPA is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. All donations are fully tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law.
