Full Artist's statement
Throughout the history of scientific discovery, technology has been used as a tool that has allowed humans to extend their physical limitations in an ongoing search for the unknown. As an interdisciplinary artist, I utilize photography, film, video, sound, alternative processes, text, and projected installations to construct mythologies of future past topographies inspired by periods of my own physical navigation through extreme landscapes. While in the field, I utilize lens based technology to position myself as the alien other examining terrain, and as a result mediation between involuntary sense perception and the logical analysis of surroundings. Motivated by the means in which we find artifact and create documents, the works reveal a collection of evidence to a place that playfully teeters between fact and fiction. Analog and digital formats are utilized based on my interest in the transformation of materials, and ability for them to reference shifting periods of time on an other earth.
