Michele Colburn

My content-driven work explores themes of a socio-political nature that often addresses domestic terrorism, war and the costs associated with both. I am a multidisciplinary artist, and make mixed media object-based work with forays more recently into endurance performance on the streets.

I use materials such as gunpowder, spent bullet casings and vintage surplus military trip wire in  two and three-dimensional works. With a nod to POP and notions of consumerism, I transform these materials by hand and process, thereby rendering them useless. My works bring both autobiographical elements and memory into play, regarding American historical and political parallels
