Artist's Statement
Maryanne Pollock

My process is like that of a scientist's, looking at life under a microscope. I am investigating deeper realms of the conscious, subconscious and super- conscious minds.

I abstract the visual narrative of everyday urban life and transport the viewer to contemplative realms, which evoke timelessness, eternal rhythms and universal themes.

My paintings are expressive and colorful inner landscapes infused with intense passion and movement. The forms ascend and descend at once like a spiral metaphor, a flux between the earth and the heavens.

The Sanskrit word for art means, "to connect". A soulful life is derived from an inner knowing, beyond words and logic. Restless and without focal points, my paintings are tracings of my journeys. They are tracings of my soul.
