Suggested motion and texture is at the heart of my sculpture. My work developed from early influences while growing up in the sensual and creative environment of Brazil. As a toddler, the sheer beauty of beetles and details of leaves or small plants captivated my imagination. As children, my friends and I made many of our toys out of tin cans, wood, and discarded materials. Living in an area of limited resources, in the interior of Brazil, I was deeply affected by local ingenuity. People used natural resources and recycling to create needed items. Their creative use of these materials exposed me to an artful experience. Those sensibilities remain with me today.

Throughout the years, I've availed myself of technology and acquired an extensive background in metal work. Using this knowledge and being faithful to my Brazilian influences, my latest works combine wood, metal, and other materials.
