Full Artist's statement
"I expose the plane between my internal and external environs through my works. The paintings emulate that inner beauty that we long for in ourselves and in our relationships with others and our environment. They seek the delicate balance between tranquility and peace and the chaos and uncertainty necessary to develop beyond who we are. Enveloped in their marks are the energy and tenacity required to enter unchartered spaces." Karen Kozojet Ching's evolving style is a fusion of impressionism and abstract expressionism. The Fairfax Station, Virginia artist creates her work on gallery wrapped canvas. Her vibrant paintings capture the essence of landscapes, seascapes and gardens that are inspired by her travels and local surroundings. The expressionistic brushstrokes dance across the canvas in a rhythmic burst of color. The luminosity is achieved through a series of transparent glazes. She adds textural elements with sgraffito, impasto, drips, spatter, collage and iridescent and metallic paints. "Creating a work of beauty from a blank canvas lifts the spirit and transcends the mind. Painting an image that shares experiences with the viewer is my lifelong passion. The reward is in captivating their attention and enabling them to make the visions their own."
