I like painting landscape with details of rural or outdoor events. And as in this painting the landscape relates to figures. I began this painting thinking about color relationships in the vibrancy of red and orange but this is also related to a report that I heard that huge dust clouds from the Sahara desert would be influencing the sunsets that we would be seeing.
And it was true, unique red and orange sunsets appeare; there was something really different about the color. So this is why this painting is called Sahara sunset.
