Artist's statement

Full Artist's statement

In art, natural subjects often act as metaphors for human experience; this isparticularly true for this female artist. While my work of the past few years has focused on nests and webs as symbols of transformation, relationships, and interconnectivity, my recent projects incorporate ideas about perception and the passage of time. Sometimes abstracted organic forms are depicted directly; at other times they are partially obscured behind a veil or curtain. Alternate veiling or unveiling reflects the difficulties of seeing clearly our past, present, or future.
