Full Artist's statement

Painting is like deep breathing for me.  It provides the breath of fresh air I need.  I enjoy my solitude when I paint because I become much more intuitive.  The negative aspects of life are transformed into a new world of mystical beauty.

I primarily paint portraits.  The landscape of the human face brings endless desire, challenge, and satisfaction to me.  I strive to portray the sincerity and dignity I see therein.

I also work with landscapes and abstracts.  My landscapes are usually inspired by my dreams, during the day and night.  In my lucid dreams, I fly over the lands, fields, and mountains, the places that I desire to be in my daydreams.  Most of my oil landscapes are done in my studio, from my imagination, and so are many of my other oil portraits.

It is an innate desire for me to paint.   In my artistic journey, I will continue to trust my intuition, be open to new ideas, and embrace the unexpected.

I believe the purpose of visual art is to enrich lives. The purpose of my art is for me to connect with my community and to share the beauty of this world and all which exists beyond what we can see.  Every person has his or her own unique experiences and emotional reactions to art pieces.  Because of this, I leave room for personal interpretation of my work.  I truly enjoy creating opportunities for people to explore their personal human experience.  It is my hope that my art will touch and enrich the souls of others as it has mine.
