Some Quotes from the Artist about her Work:
"As I take aim, the art takes on a life of its own...
so I figure my job is to let it go where it's headed..."
"Piranha Girls in a Piranha World..."
"...I study the transparency of light, (and hope),
and the myriad colors of darkness, (and of the heart)."
"I'm just the vassal of the colors and the brushes."
"I'm prolific, in binges."
"It's always touching ... when my art,
whether it be painting or singing,
gets someone's heart tingling....
Ya don't haveta know nuttin' 'bout art -- ya either like it or ya don't."
--Andrea Dagmar-Swenson Brown
Included here are some of my acrylic paintings...
[NOTE: I've devised a method to overcome the quick-drying characteristics of acrylic paint that allow my color mixes to stay moist longer]:
-- "Rust Town": a series of acrylic paintings of my imaginary town and its residents;
-- Examples from an exhibition of the Haiti earthquake's consequences (a percentage of proceeds going to charity);
-- Primitive, impressionist and abstract acrylic paintings; and
-- Recent, new, abstract ink drawings using Copics and Prismatics.
I am a photographer as well as painter, and only within my photos will you find realism -- plus visual puns, landscapes and portraiture.
More coming soon:
-- Jewelry designer: photos of examples of my bracelets, necklaces, earrings and brooches. I use gemstones and other natural materials, silver and niobium, man-made materials, chain maille techniques and my own innovations.
-- Photos of my digital and 35mm photographs, both published and unpublished works.
