Matthew S. Witkovsky is Curator and Chair of Photography at The Art Institute of Chicago, where he is organizing an exhibition on photography in classic conceptual art circa 1970, and overseeing the expansion of photography’s presence within the new Modern Wing designed by Renzo Piano, which opens in May. At the National Gallery of Art, where Matthew worked for six years, he will open an exhibition devoted to Czech avant-gardist Jaromír Funke, also in May. His book Foto: Modernity in Central Europe, 1918-1945, has been awarded the Kraszna-Krausz Prize in Photography and the Vienna Artbook Award, both in 2008.
